Mike McCarthy, Omar Khan provide updates on 2 Steelers at NFL meeting
The Steelers brass provided vague, but positive updates on two players entering 2026.

(Photo by Mark Alberti/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) | Icon Sportswire via Getty Images New Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy and general manager Omar Khan spoke to the media at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting on Monday, providing updates on two Steelers with question marks entering the 2026 season. The first was left tackle Broderick Jones, who suffered a neck injury Week 12 that reportedly required fusion surgery.
Jones missed the rest of the season and was considered by many to be questionable entering the new one. Khan didn’t provide many specifics regarding Jones at the meeting, but did sound more optimistic. “He’s starting to do more and more,” Khan said via TribLive’s Chris Adamski .
“I’ve talked to (Jones) a couple times over the last couple weeks, and he’s in a good place and ready to work hard and do whatever he can to be ready to go. ” McCarthy, meanwhile, was asked about third-year receiver Roman Wilson at the meeting. Wilson isn’t currently dealing with an injury, but finished the 2025 season as a healthy scratch as a former third-round pick.
“I really had a great conversation with (Wilson) the other day,” McCarthy said via PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh , “just looking forward to working with him. I think he’s a young man that a new system, new fresh start, I think he’s, I’m hoping he’s one of those guys who will benefit from him. ” Wilson finished 2025 with just 12 catches for 166 yards and two touchdowns.
