Before the Kansas City Royals played their first home game of the season, they took some time to remember Terrance Gore.

Gore, a speedy outfielder, was a 2015 World Series champion with the Royals. He died suddenly in February at just 34 years old. The Royals welcomed his family to Kauffman Stadium on Monday, and executive vice president J.

J. Picollo welcomed Gore's wife and three children onto the field. The ceremony also featured Gore's oldest kid, Zane, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

He strolled confidently out to the mound wearing a No. 0 Royals jersey -- his father's number -- and looked in toward home plate, where Royals legend (and Gore's teammate) Alex Gordon crouched to receive the pitch.
