Which Bucs player is considered he most overpaid?

Who did Bleacher Report designate as the Bucs most overpaid player?

Every NFL team has some players who sign big contracts either as free agents or before they hit the open market. Sometimes those contracts can age like wine, while the others can age like milk, and they leave teams scrambling to do something to rectify the situation. Thankfully, for most players who are on deals that aged poorly, that time of the season for teams to fix them by cutting or trading them has passed, for the most part.

However, that doesn't mean people still won't look at deals and decide, "That isn't a good contract. " Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon was the one to step up and take on the task of picking each team's overpaid player. For the Bucs, he chose veteran wide receiver Chris Godwin.

He writes, "Right now, that three-year, $66 million extension from the 2025 offseason is looking silly, as Godwin might be the most overpaid player in the NFL considering his $33. 7 million cap hit for 2026. That ranks first among all wide receivers, which is a shame because the 30-year-old has failed to play in double-digit games in back-to-back seasons and his productivity when healthy plummeted in 2025.

" Godwin has been listed as a potential trade target for teams looking for wide receiver help. Teams like the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, and Denver Broncos were all listed as teams needing help, and most of them have now made other moves. And of course, the team losing Mike Evans also forces their hand to keep him on the deal and retain him as a player.
