Ex-Stars coach Peter DeBoer is ‘ready’ for new NHL job
Former Dallas Stars coach Peter DeBoer has spent the past months away from the NHL bench, but his focus has not shifted. The experienced coach used this period to reset, spend time with family, and stay connected to the game. His recent role with Team Canada at the Winter Olympics also kept him close to high-level competition.
Now, DeBoer made it clear he is ready for the next opportunity. Speaking to NHL. com , he said he understands how rare NHL coaching jobs are.

I’m humble enough to know that. Having said that, I have a lot of confidence in my track record of coming in and having success in different places. And I’m especially proud of my ability in the playoffs to have teams move forward.
” DeBoer’s recent stint with Dallas highlights that track record. He guided the Stars to three straight Western Conference Finals from 2023 to 2025. Despite that consistency, the team failed to reach the Stanley Cup Final, leading to his dismissal in June 2025.
