More than 5 million people registered to buy 2028 Olympics tickets, but some OKC-area residents will get first dibs. Here's what happens next.
If you registered for tickets to the 2028 Summer Olympics, you’re going to want to start checking that email inbox. On Tuesday, March 31, notifications for the locals presale will begin going out to fans in qualifying Oklahoma City zip codes who registered for tickets . Randomly selected fans will receive time slots for ticket-purchase windows, the first of which opens Thursday, April 2.
The purchase windows will run through Monday, April 6. The notification emails for the presale will arrive 48 hours before the time slot opens, so if you don’t get one Tuesday, you haven’t been shut out. But locals who registered but were not selected will receive an email on Tuesday notifying them that they won’t be able to buy tickets in the presale.
They will be automatically entered into another ticket drop happening later this year. “There has been extraordinary demand and excitement for LA28 tickets,” LA28 vice president of business strategy and analytics Allison Katz-Mayfield said Monday. “We’ve had more than 5 million people from 197 countries and territories around the world register for the LA28 ticket draw.

The email notification of your time slot will arrive 48 hours before your purchase window opens — “So if someone has a time slot on April 3,” Katz-Mayfield said, “they will get an email about that time slot on April 1” — and the window will be open for 48 hours.
