Aaron Judge, Yankees sweep after addressing issue that could make or break season
The Yankees are off to a 3-0 start to the season after sweeping the Giants in San Francisco.
SAN FRANCISCO — Two games into the season, the Yankees went into Saturday’s opening-series finale with the Giants playing with an extra sense of urgency. On March 28, they played game three of 162 like it was September with division-crown implications. “In the past couple years we struggled at kind of finishing our series and sweeping series, so we tried to make it a point in pre-game,” Aaron Judge said.
“We talked about it. ” They talked the talk, then walked the walk beating the Giants 3-1 to go 3-0 heading into a Sunday off day and then three in Seattle. 2025 is over, but Judge can’t forget how the Yankees went into the playoffs.
He’s still irked about the Blue Jays beating them out for the American League East crown on a tiebreaker. One more win and they would have had a first-round bye instead of hosting the Red Sox in a Wild Card Series. One more win and they would have had home-field advantage for a Division Series and maybe moved on instead of losing the first two in Toronto and being ousted in four.
Before Sunday’s game, Judge remembered winning series in past seasons that started with two victories and ended with a loss. For Monday’s series opener featuring the Yankees and the Mariners, the over/under is set at 7. 5 total runs on DraftKings .
