Sean McVay still isn't over Caleb Williams' insane TD throw vs. Rams
Rams HC Sean McVay called Bears QB Caleb Williams' insane TD throw in the divisional playoffs "one of the most incredible plays I've ever seen."
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made one of the most incredible touchdowns in recent NFL history in the team's divisional round loss in overtime against the Los Angeles Rams, and it still has Rams head coach Sean McVay talking. With the Bears trailing 17-10 with less than two minutes remaining, Williams drove his team down the field and ultimately made one of the craziest throws you'll ever see, running backwards nearly 30 yards as pressure beared down on him and unleashing the ball off platform for a 14-yard touchdown to tight end Cole Kmet to force overtime. In the moment, McVay was left stunned at Williams' late-game heroics, praising Williams' touchdown pass as one of the best plays he's ever seen.
“The things that are so impressive are when things go off-schedule,” McVay said Monday at the NFL Annual Meeting, via the Sun-Times . “I mean, I couldn’t believe what I witnessed on that fourth down and four. One of the most incredible plays I’ve ever seen.
” McVay discussed the difficulty preparing to face Williams, who steps up in crunch time and has one of the league's best offensive coaches in Ben Johnson leading the charge. “He’s a stud,” McVay said of Williams. “Just preparing for him, watching the crunch-time throws, I think he did a great job.
Ben does an excellent job putting a lot of pressure on defenses, but he’s doing a lot of different things pre-snap. … Really impressed by that. ” That's high praise from one of the NFL's brightest offensive minds, who believes Williams is at his best when the pressure is turned up.
