Saudi Pro League giant Al-Qadisiyah has FC Barcelona star Dani Olmo on its radar, so what should the Catalans do if they receive a mouthwatering offer?

FC Barcelona star Dani Olmo has reportedly received interest from Saudi Arabia. Getty Images Saudi Pro League giant Al-Qadisiyah has FC Barcelona star Dani Olmo on its radar according to MARCA , which cited anonymous sources. The interested party has even flown to Spain to watch the midfielder in action, but it’s worth noting that no formal offers have been made either to Olmo or his employers.

Al-Qadisiyah has contacted Barca executives unofficially to touch bases on the matter, but the player himself has been unaware that he is on its shortlist until now. In any case, MARCA says, Olmo isn’;t considering leaving his boyhood club “under any circumstances”, which includes being offered generational wealth by the Saudis. After leaving La Masia before graduation for Dynamo Zagreb, and then cutting his teeth both in Croatia and with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, the 27-year-old is happy where he is after taking the long way round to Hansi Flick ’s first team.

That comes espite Olmo’s endless list of injuries and even having trouble getting registered to play after Barca struggled navigating Financial Fair Play in the wake of his €60 million transfer from Leipzig in the summer of 2024. Still, it’s interesting to think how President Joan Laporta might act if Al-Qadisiyah tabled an eyewatering amount for Olmo. As indicated, there’s his injury history to consider, and cashing in on a player who is under contract for another four years until mid-2030 might sometimes seem like a wise move before he loses his selling value.

This is especially true when considering Barca’s restricted spending power plus pursuits for Alessandro Bastoni and Julian Alvarez. It’s doubtful that they’ll be able to afford both players rated at a combined €260 million or so, and sales will be key if Laporta is to pull off an economic miracle. Furthermore, CAM is a position that has ample cover with Fermin Lopez and Gavi, while Bernardo Silva could also join ahead of next season on a free transfer.
