Baseball America, national outlets re-rank Alabama after Auburn sweep
Is Alabama a top 10 college baseball team? At least one national outlet believes so after the Crimson Tide's sweep of Auburn.
There aren't too many teams in college baseball playing as well as the Alabama Crimson Tide at the moment. With seven straight wins under their belts, including back-to-back weekend series sweeps of the Florida Gators and rival Auburn Tigers, the Crimson Tide (22-7 overall, 6-3 conference) are playing like the team many hoped they'd be entering the season. Alabama has a roster that returned a lot of talent, none more so than shortstop Justin Lebron, who came into the season viewed as the potential No.
1 overall college player in this year's MLB Draft. After a few bumps and bruises that included a weekend sweep at Kentucky to open SEC play, the Tide have been on fire since. A big test awaits Alabama when it ventures away from the friendly confines of Sewell-Thomas Stadium to face a top-15 Oklahoma Sooners team in Norman beginning Thursday.
But a big turnaround has already taken form. Alabama finished off a three-game sweep of Florida on March 22. The Gators, in turn, swept the sixth-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks this past weekend at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville.
It was the first time Arkansas had dropped a three-game home series since 2022. Alabama's sweep of the Gators turned out to be only an appetizer when fifth-ranked Auburn visited Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the Tigers armed with one of the best pitching staffs in the country, the Crimson Tide had to beat Auburn at its own game to win the series, and that's precisely what they did.
