Jon Scheyer prepared Duke to avoid exact scenario that led to disaster
The Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team was upset by the UConn Huskies during a heartbreaking Sweet 16 loss, but it was such an avoidable mistake . Huskies freshman Braylon Mullins hit an unreal game-winning shot , completing an improbable comeback and ending the March Madness run for the Blue Devils. None of this would have happened if Duke head coach Jon Scheyer called a timeout after UConn's Silas Demary Jr.
made a free throw. This would have allowed everyone on the offense to get organized before the brutal season-ending blunder . A timeout also would have given him an opportunity to make sure he told his players to follow his advice that he gave them earlier this season.

In this video, Scheyer notes that the Bulls were up by two with four seconds to go. That's nearly identical to the scenario what Duke found itself in during the loss against UConn. The Duke coach quizzed his guys on what to do.
During the NBA situation, when Jones had the ball, he decided to throw it high and directly up in the air. Scheyer emphasized that it was a good idea because it would stretch out the clock without a possibility for a turnover like extra passes did during the game on Sunday evening. After the Bulls won, Jones was complimented for his game awareness.
