Zegras, 25, was acquired by the Flyers over the summer.

He is a pending RFA and is one of five RFAs on the team’s current NHL roster. It should be no surprise that the team is interested in signing Zegras. They did not acquire him for just one season.

In 73 games this season, the forward has tied a career high of 23 goals. He is six points shy of matching his career high of 65 points. After battling injury, Zegras is having a great bounce-back season in his fresh start in Philadelphia.

Now, it sounds like the Flyers have begun contract talks with their young forward. On the latest episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast , Elliotte Friedman said, “I’m watching Trevor Zegras score in overtime, I’m looking at this, and I think the Flyers and Zegras have started talking. ” Friedman went on to say, “I don’t know how close they are, but I think they have definitely been talking.
