Sean McVay comments on Puka Nacua's recent off-field troubles
Sean McVay shared his thoughts on Puka Nacua's recent off-field situation, with the receiver being sued for biting a woman on New Year's Eve.
Puka Nacua has quickly become one of the best players in the NFL after being a fifth-round pick in 2023, setting all kinds of records as a rookie and then leading the league in receptions and receiving yards this past season. But in the last several months, he’s faced some maturity questions because of his off-field actions. It started with his comments about officials and an antisemitic dance that he did while on a livestream in December, even getting fined $25,000 by the league for questioning the integrity of its officials.
More recently, he was accused of biting a woman and making an antisemitic comment while out on New Year’s Eve, which has led to him getting sued . Though his attorney maintains Nacua’s innocence, the civil lawsuit is expected to proceed. In an interview with Steve Wyche of NFL Network , Rams coach Sean McVay commented on Nacua’s off-field situation and said he wants to continue putting his arm around the young receiver as he matures.
Wyche asked McVay if he said to Nacua, “You’ve got a great thing in front of you, focus on that. ” “It’s really just what you said,” McVay replied. “Here’s the thing that you do know: Being around him for three years, love this guy’s heart.
He’s got this authentic zest for life. He’s got just this vibe about him that you can’t help but love. And he’s continuing to mature.
