Haworth Takes Over top Spot And Waters Triples Again At 2026 Pro Pickleball Association Zion Cup
The Professional Pickleball Association's Zion Cup saw continued dominance from the tour's top players, and Christopher Haworth taking over the top spot in singles.
Christopher Haworth completes his 9-month journey to the top spot in pro singles with his gold medal in Utah. PPA One of the few remaining events on the spring calendar for the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) took place last weekend at the picturesque Black Desert Resort just outside of long-running PPA host city St. George in southern Utah.
This new venue drew raves from players and fans alike for the scenery, the site, for the golfing (as we saw on PPA’s social media page), and for the play. This “cup” level event awards 1,500 points to the winners and offers 50% more points to the winners, crucial for those currently on the “cut line” for the upcoming Tour finals. This event also saw the return of Will Howells, who went down with a sprained ankle in early January.

PPA News and Noteworthy ahead of the Event Here’s a quick recap of notable news items of import to the tour or this event: - 3/27/26: UPA announces that Proton paddles will be banned from all UPA events starting 3/30/26. Per an email sent to players from Pardoe/Segur, “Proton has failed to resolve its outstanding debts and is now in bad standing with the United Pickleball Association (UPA), the PPA Tour, Major League Pickleball (MLP), and Pickleball Inc. ” This is doubly curious since Proton also had an involuntary bankruptcy filing against it on 3/11/25, a filing that was explained away initially as a business dispute, but which now looks more ominous.
