Notre Dame baseball drops out of top-25 following rough weekend

Yahoo Sports

Notre Dame baseball entered the weekend as a ranked team, but after getting swept by North Carolina, the Irish have dropped out.

It wasn’t the weekend that Notre Dame baseball envisioned, as it hosted North Carolina and got swept in the three-game series . The two teams entered Friday ranked, and only the Tar Heels stayed that way on Monday morning. The Irish, who were D1Baseball’s No.

23 ranked team dropped out of the Week 7 poll . The series was important for Notre Dame, but they just couldn’t find the magic they had shown earlier in the season. The Irish have up 34 runs to the Tar Heels, and while they did score 22, it clearly wasn’t enough to salvage a game in the series.

Notre Dame now stands with a 15-9 record, 6-6 in ACC play, and will return to the diamond on Thursday as it will travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on the NC State Wolfpack. Hopefully a better result will happen this weekend, but the challenge will still be as the Wolfpack were also just ranked, but were also left out this week. 🆕 D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings: Week 7 (Presented by @NettingPros ) Who's too high?
