Texas softball: Texas A&M snaps historic win streak for Longhorns in game 3 of SEC series
Texas softball had won a school-record 29 games before Texas A&M won the third and final game of the series Sunday at McCombs Field

The top-ranked Longhorns (31-2, 8-1 SEC) hadn’t lost since an 8-5 setback to Nebraska Feb.
7, but they couldn’t overcome a red-hot Aggie lineup or a mistake-prone defense that committed three errors. The No. 16 Aggies (24-11, 6-3) pounded out 13 hits while handing Texas ace Teagan Kavan her first loss of the season.
Kavan gave up 11 hits and eight runs in 5 ⅔ innings, including three runs in the first inning. Texas pulled within 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning after a 2-RBI double by shortstop Vivi Martinez , but the Aggies took advantage of errors from Martinez and third baseman Jaycie Nichols to score five runs in the top of the sixth. (Mikala Compton/Austin American-Statesman) Back-to-back solo home runs by catcher Reese Atwood and first baseman Katie Stewart gave the Longhorns a glimmer of hope in the seventh inning, but Texas A&M’s Sydney Lessentine made her third appearance of the series and worked the final two innings to help the Aggies hold on for the win. Texas coach Mike White got ejected in the bottom of the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes.
