During an appearance on "Games With Names" with Patriots legend Julian Edelman , Denver Broncos All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II had high praise for Gonzalez. Edelman was noting how the best corners in the league right now are "chill" and do not trash-talk much. Instead, they let their play do the talking.
Surtain agreed, and noted how he, Gonzalez, Derek Stingley Jr, and other star corners do not talk much. “Like Gonzo — like he’s quiet," Surtain said. "Quiet as a mouse, y’know?
Chill, laid-back. But, he’s a baller. (Derek) Stingley, another quiet dude.
” Surtain won the Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2024. He is a two-time All-Pro, four-time Pro Bowler and was named a second-team All-Pro last season. He is regarded by many as the best corner in football, and he seems to have great respect for the Patriots' shutdown corner.
