Kirby Smart on Georgia football's top transfers
Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart shares his early insights on key transfers Isiah Canion and Amaris Williams
The Georgia Bulldogs ' transfer class is headlined by Georgia Tech transfer wide receiver Isiah Canion and Auburn transfer edge rusher Amaris Williams. Georgia's transfers are all around for the Bulldogs' spring practice. Georgia coach Kirby Smart already has some observations on Georgia's top transfers.
"Isiah (Canion) is a guy we knew about in high school," Smart said. "I remember Coach Bobo going down and watching him practice, and he made a couple really acrobatic catches. He was in the back of our mind all along.
"Of course, we got to play against him last year, and he made some plays against us last year in that game. The more familiar you are with someone through recruiting, the more success we've had. He's a good football player.
He's an even better person, and he played with several guys on our team, so there's a relationship there. " Canion could end up as Georgia's top receiver this season. At the very least, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound pass catcher is expected to compete for a starting role a year after hauling in 33 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns with Georgia Tech.
