Where will Cortes end up?

The New York Yankees have many former players around the league still looking for a home, and that includes left-hander Nestor Cortes, who was once an All-Star in Pinstripes.

Unfortunately for Yankees fans, many remember him now due to giving up a walk-off home run against Freddie Freeman in Game 1 of the 2024 World Series, but we shouldn't forget what he did prior to that and before some of his injuries. If a recent prediction comes true, the Yankees won't be able to forget about him much, as they'll have to face him. FanSided’s Austin Owens predicted that Cortes would sign with the American League East Baltimore Orioles .

“A former MLB All-Star who is just 31 years old does not sound like someone who would be job searching at the end of March. This is the exact situation left-handed pitcher Nestor Cortes has found himself in. “Given the strategy the Baltimore Orioles used this past offseason (signing middle of the road veteran starters), Cortes could very well be calling Camden Yards home.

” Cortes isn’t far removed from being a high-impact arm, but his recent stretch, even after leaving the Yankees, hasn't been much to write home about. Perhaps the Orioles or another team around the league signs him to a minor league deal and hopes that he figures it out. Even if he throws in a couple of games and is healthy eventually, it's possible that he can get back to what he was, even if it seems unlikely right now.
