But now things appear to have changed for the former Syracuse heir and Washington head coach. MAAC reporter Sam Federman posted on X on Sunday afternoon and wrote about the Hopkins hiring: "Things can change quickly. Hearing from multiple sources now that this is unlikely to happen.
" It's not clear what actually changed, just that Hopkins may no longer coach Siena. He was set to be the replacement for Gerry McNamara, who just took the head coaching job at Syracuse. Hopkins and G-Mac, of course, overlapped at SU, so it looked to be quite the job handoff.

Hopkins is currently an assistant coach in the NBA for the New Orleans Pelicans. He had previously been a college head coach at the University of Washington, where he had a 118-106 record.
