Trey Hendrickson is excited to become a young Ravens mentor

Trey Hendrickson is warming up to immersing himself into a mentor's role.

The Baltimore Ravens didn't just add production by signing Trey Hendrickson. They added leadership, even if they didn't realize it. For a defense in transition, that may prove just as valuable as anything he does on Sundays.

Hendrickson arrives in Baltimore with a reputation as one of the NFL's most consistent pass rushers, but his focus is already shifting beyond sacks and pressures. As the Ravens look to rebuild their edge unit, the veteran understands his role will include helping develop the next wave of contributors. That's something he appears to be embracing.

During a recent appearance on The Set with Terron Armstead , Hendrickson was asked about the opportunity. It sounds like he is excited about playing the 'big brother' role. "It's a fun time to give this knowledge that I've been given through so many great players to help mold guys like Mike Green into the best version of himself.

That's what excites me about being a veteran in this league. " For a young group that includes players like Green, that presence could be critical. He showed flashes during his rookie campaign but struggled to consistently impact games, finishing with modest production despite appearing in a full slate of contests.
