Connor McDavid chases Gretzky era greatness in pre-30 scoring race

It’s not easy to stop Connor McDavid when he finds his momentum. This season, he is doing the same, as he continues to push into historic territory. After achieving his 1200-point milestone, he is now chasing pre-30 scoring marks set by legends like Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

The Edmonton Oilers captain delivered again in a 4-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday. McDavid scored once and added two assists, extending his point streak to four games. He now has five goals and four assists in that span, showing his dominance during a tight stretch of the season.

Since Dec. 1, he also leads the league with 31 goals, showing a sharp scoring touch that continues to evolve.

He is just five points behind Lemieux’s mark of 1,211 for second place all-time in that category. Dale Hawerchuk (1,208 points) sits third in the rankings. Gretzky remains far ahead with 2,072 points, a mark that still stands untouched.
