In the background of Les Murakami Stadium, there was an impromptu pyrotechnic display in the seventh inning. On the field, right-handed pitcher Hekili Robello and left-swinging slugger Christian Hoffman provided the fireworks in the Hawaii baseball team’s 6-2 victory over Cal State Fullerton. A crowd of 2,385 saw Robello pitch six scoreless innings and Hoffman smack a monstrous home run as the Rainbow Warriors evened the Big West series at a win apiece.

First pitch is set for 1:05 p. m. for today’s series finale.

Two weeks ago in the chill in Long Beach, Calif. , Robello allowed seven runs in two innings in his worst outing of the season. But he rebounded the following week, allowing one run and striking out eight in 81⁄3 innings against UC Santa Barbara.

On Saturday, Robello relied on a 92 mph fastball and true grit to meet every CSUF challenge. Robello relinquished seven hits but still managed to keep the Titans off the scoreboard. He walked two and struck out five.
