Runner-Up finish for Iowa State at Bell Bank Golf Meet
Zach May | Luke Lu/Iowa State Athletics LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. — The Iowa State men’s golf team placed second in a 17-team Bell Bank, “Pay It Forward” Collegiate Meet in Arizona on March 24. The Cyclones were third after the first day and were the overall runner-up team at the event.
Marquette won the tournament with a team score of 843 with round scores of 282, 282, and 279. Iowa State was led by Zachary May with a third place finish. May won the event last year.
May had a three-round score of 209. He shot a two-under score of 70 in round one, a one-under score of 71 in round two, and a four-under score of 68 in the third round. All but one of the five Cyclones competing at the event had at least one round under par in their scores.
Paul Beauvy and Own Sawyer tied for 10th place overall with each collecting scores of 212. Beauvy had scores of 72, 69, and 71 and had his fourth top-10 finish this season. Sawyer had scores of 74-70, and 68 and finished in the top-10 for the fourth time this season.
Other Cyclone scores were from Jackson McCommon who tied for 26th place with a score of 216 and Julian Geerebaert was tied for 55th with a score of 223. Drew Hensen tied for 83rd with a score of 231. McCommon had his second eagle of the tournament on the final day and Hensen finished the tournament with five birdies and an eagle in the three rounds.
