The Los Angeles Dodgers held their World Series ring ceremony on Friday, and it had a notable USC influence

Back in October, the Los Angeles Dodgers won their second consecutive World Series championship with a thrilling Game 7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. With the 2026 MLB season now underway , on Friday, the Dodgers held their 2025 World Series ring ceremony ahead of their game against the Arizona Diamondbacks . This year’s ceremony had a notable USC influence, with a performance by the Trojan Marching Band.

Following that night’s game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts—who played baseball at UCLA—was asked about the performance. Roberts did not exactly hold back in his thoughts. “Didn’t like it,” Roberts said .

“Wasn’t a fan. ” While Roberts was not particularly fond of the performance, Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior likely appreciated it. Prior, of course, pitched for USC during the early 2000s, helping lead the Trojans to their most recent College World Series appearances in 2000 and 2001.

Roberts and Prior will have bragging rights on the line this coming week when USC and UCLA face off on the baseball field. For now, though, Prior can revel in the fact that the Victory Bell is currently painted Cardinal, with the Trojans having beaten their crosstown foes on the football field for the eighth time in the past 11 years back in November.
