Former All-Pro WR deemed as 'perfect' free agent fit for Patriots

Should the Patriots consider signing former All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel?

Deebo Samuel signing with the New England Patriots in free agency sounds attractive. According to Bleacher Reportโ€™s Gary Davenport, Samuel is the perfect fit for the Patriots to add among all of the free agents that have yet to be signed in the open market. Samuel recorded 72 receptions for 727 yards and five touchdowns in 2025.

The South Carolina product was used much less in the run game as a member of the Washington Commanders last season, though he scored one rushing touchdown on the year. The Patriots have a defined structure at wide receiver, with Romeo Dobbs as their primary pass-catcher, Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins as secondary options on the outside and DeMario Douglas in the slot. While a 1,000-yard wide receiver is what the Patriots lost with the release of Stefon Diggs, Samuel does it all on the field, with energy.

Signing the veteran receiver on a team-friendly deal sounds enticing. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook . This article originally appeared on Patriots Wire: Former All-Pro WR deemed as 'perfect' free agent fit for Patriots
