New York Giants roster update: 80 players under contract, little cap space
The New York Giants currently have 80 players under contract and limited cap space as they comb through what's left in free agency.
The New York Giants appear to be done signing big-ticket free agents for the moment as they hone in on the 2026 NFL draft in less than a month. The team currently has 80 players under contract and approximately a Top 51 cap number of $4. 4 million.
That will leave them 10 spots to fill before training camp begins in late July. They will use seven of those spots on their seven draft picks. The roster is far from complete at the moment, and there will be numerous adjustments right up until the cut date in September and beyond.
The Giants have not yet announced their offseason workout schedule, but it can begin as early as April 6, given that they have a first-year head coach, John Harbaugh. The priorities for this team going forward are clear. Harbaugh wants a physical team on both sides of the football, and every personnel move will also take special teams into account.
The onus will begin up front along the offensive and defensive lines. It's clear the Giants aren't in love with the interior of the existing offensive line and want more talent, depth, and versatility on defense. They also want a dominant running game and as much support for second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart as possible.
