Floyd Mayweather disputes Netflix on key detail of Manny Pacquiao rematch

The streaming giant revealed plans in February for a global event, presenting the fight as a major professional bout set for The Sphere in Las Vegas. It is expected to take place on 19 September.
However, Mayweather’s latest comments directly contradict two major elements of that announcement. His version of events paints a very different picture. Floyd Mayweather says Manny Pacquiao rematch will be an exhibition Photo credit should read JOHN GURZINSKI/AFP via Getty Images Speaking to Vegas Sports Today last Saturday, Mayweather questioned both the venue and the nature of the contest.
“The Sphere is one of the places that they talked about. So we don’t know if it’s 100% gonna be there. And this is not actually a fight, it’s an exhibition.
So we’re gonna do it again, and hopefully we’re gonna entertain the people,” the 49-year-old stated. That stance clashes with Netflix’s announcement of a professional bout at The Sphere, which positioned the event as a definitive rematch. It also undermines Pacquiao’s bold claim included in the press release.
“I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him,” the Filipino star said. Why Floyd Mayweather says he is fighting again Mayweather also addressed his motivation for returning, offering a relaxed explanation for his continued appearances. He told VST: “So if I’m just sitting at home and I’m just working on everyday spending time with my grandson and spending time with my children, I’ve said, ‘Why not go out, have a little fun, entertain, and put on some exhibitions,’ you know?
