Penn State picked up the first commitment in the Class of 2027 under head coach Matt Campbell with defensive back Semajay Robisnon from Florida.
Penn State has landed its first commitment in the Class of 2027 under new head coach Matt Campbell. Semajay Robinson, a four-star defensive back from Miami, Florida, announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions on Saturday. Robinson made the commitment while visiting Penn State's campus for the weekend.
Robinson appeared to be trending in favor of Penn State in the latest stages of his recruiting process, according to recruiting insiders, so the commitment is not much of a shocker. It had also been reported Robinson intended to announce his decision this weekend, so the visit to Happy Valley was certainly a strong indicator of where things stood for the Nittany Lions and Robinson. Robinson reportedly chose Penn State over offers from Auburn , Virginia, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, and Missouri.
The 6-2 cornerback is rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports but does pick up a fourth star from Rivals. He is ranked as the no. 46 cornerback in the nation and the no.
41 overall prospect in Florida according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Robinson was originally scheduled to take official visits to Virginia (May 29), Penn State (June 5), and Mississippi State (June 12) this summer. According to Lions247, those visits will be canceled .
