Nebraska softball comes up short in second clash against No. 7 UCLA

Nebraska softball entered its second game against No. 7 UCLA on Saturday afternoon. The Huskers fell to the Bruins, coming up short in a 6-5 defeat.

No. 9 Nebraska softball (25-6, 7-1) entered its second game against No. 7 UCLA (29-4, 10-1) on Saturday afternoon.

The Huskers fell to the Bruins , coming up short 6-5. The team also brought in a program-record crowd of 3,123 fans, the highest-attended game in Nebraska softball history. Nebraska trailed from the start, falling behind 3-0 after UCLA opened the game with two singles and a three-run home run.

Though the Huskers tied it up in the fifth, the Bruins added three more runs in the sixth following another three-run home run. Nebraska almost completed the comeback in the seventh, hitting back-to-back home runs before loading the bases with one out. However, a flyout and a lineout ended the rally.

The Huskers finished with three home runs. Nebraska totaled five hits and nine walks for five RBIs. UCLA earned eight hits and three walks for six RBIs.
