FC Barcelona Reportedly Offers Robert Lewandowski New Deal - Does It Make Sense?
FC Barcelona veteran Robert Lewandowski has reportedly been offered a new contract, but does that make sense for the club?
FC Barcelona has reportedly offered Robert Lewandowski a fresh contract extension beyond June 30, 2026. Getty Images FC Barcelona has offered its aging striker Robert Lewandowski a new contract according to SPORT , which cited anonymous sources. The Catalan paper explains that the Barca board has offered the Pole a one-year extension “with a significant reduction” yet higher variables.
Joining the Blaugrana from Bayern Munich as part of a €50 million transfer, Lewandowski currently has just over three months left to run on his current deal which expires on June 30. There have been widespread reports of offers from Saudi Arabia, the MLS and even Turkey. But thus far, Lewandowski has been tight-lipped on what he’ll do beyond the summer while setting himself a May deadline of making a decision.
"Regarding my future at Barcelona, what I said hasn’t changed. I’m taking my time deciding what’s best for me. I have not made any decision," the veteran said earlier this week, while preparing for a World Cup playoff semifinal for his country.
Yet one notable development since those remarks is that Barca has actually put a proposal on the table. That probably has a lot to do with President Joan Laporta winning re-election a fortnight ago, as it was him that brought ‘Lewa’ to the Spotify Camp Nou while always maintaining a strong relationship with the striker and Hansi Flick ’s agent, Pini Zahavi. Does FC Barcelona’s offer to Robert Lewandowski make sense?
