Steelers HC Mike McCarthy watches Garrett Nussmeier at LSU pro day

LSU held their pro day and Steelers HC Mike McCarthy was there to get a good look at QB Garrett Nussmeier.

With less than four weeks to the start of the 2026 NFL draft, time is running out for the Pittsburgh Steelers to sort out their quarterback situation. It doesn't feel like Aaron Rodgers is going to give the team any clarity on his NFL future before the draft and while we expect him to eventually grace the team with his presence, it shouldn't impact the draft, if the Steelers covet a particular quarterback for their future. One prospect who we've seen linked to Steelers since the hiring of new head coach Mike McCarthy is LSU's Garrett Nussmeier.

McCarthy was at the LSU pro day in person and kept a close eye on Nussmeier's workout. Nussmeier's dad, Doug, was the quarterbacks coach with the Dallas Cowboys from 2020 to 2022 when McCarthy was the head coach, so McCarthy is very familiar with the young quarterback's skills and pedigree. Heโ€™s friends with and coached with his dad. Prediction: The Steelers will pick a QB in the 3rd round. Could it be this guy?
