What Has Happened To Phil Foden’s Form This Season?
Phil Foden is fighting to prove himself for club and country with the midfielder struggling to find consistent form.
Only two seasons ago, Phil Foden was the best player in the Premier League. The midfielder won the PFA Player of the Year award as Manchester City won another title. Erling Haaland might have finished as the league’s top scorer, but Foden was the driving force behind the team that became champions.

The 25-year-old has struggled to find consistent form over the last two seasons with his recent performances for England another sign that he is no longer capable of impacting matches at the highest level.
Serious questions are being asked of Foden. While England manager Thomas Tuchel said Foden played “with responsibility” in the 1-1 draw against Uruguay, he clearly wanted to see more from the Manchester City creator. “We were aware of their midfield three changing position a lot and moving freely and wanting to drag you out of position.
We needed a very solid and smart tactical performance,” said the German coach. “That’s when Phil came into play as he was outstanding in defensive patterns in training, he has played No8 for Manchester City many times. In moments I thought he could be a bit more adventurous, taking a risk like a number 10, trying some stuff.
