Canyon, West Plains win Lubbock Invitational track meet - See the results

Lubbock ISD's annual track meet concluded Saturday, with a pair of come-from-behind team title wins by Canyon ISD schools.

The Canyon boys overtook Lubbock-Cooper Liberty in the final two events to earn the Division II team championship at the Lubbock Invitational track and field meet Saturday at Lowrey Field. The Eagles trailed the Patriots by 13 points entering the 1,600 meters, but had runners finish second, fourth and fifth to take a one-point lead. Canyon put a bow on the team title with a victory in the 1,600 relay.

That gave the Eagles 175 points to runner-up Liberty's 162. Canyon West Plains' girls had a similar surge to win their team championship. The Wolves won the 1,600 relay to overtake rival Canyon in the standings with 131 points.
