Another big winning streak for the Hokies.

The No. 12 Virginia Tech Hokies softball squad was back in action on Friday, this time on the road against Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. It was yet another perfect day for the Hokies, who swept the Eagles in a doubleheader.

Game 1: Hokies 11, Eagles 0 After a scoreless first inning, Tech jumped on BC for four runs in the top of the second inning. Gaby Mizelle got things started with her fifth home run of the season to make it 1-0. Rachel Castine reached base on a single and was driven home by Addison Foster to make it 2-0.

Then, Jordan Lynch blasted a two-run home run and it was suddenly 4-0. The Hokies were quiet for the next few innings before blowing things wide open in the top of the fifth, scoring seven runs to take an 11-0 lead and earn another run-rule victory. Mizelle would drive in another run, followed by Castine, Emma Mazzarone and Foster, before Lynch hit her second homer of the day to make it 11-0.

Lynch drove in five runs in the Game 1 win. Speaking of Mazzarone, she was excellent again, pitching a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits, while tying a career-high with 10 strikeouts. Mazzarone earned the win and is now 8-1.
