Tyrese Maxey reacts to his triumphant return after helping the Philadelphia 76ers knock off the Charlotte Hornets.

CHARLOTTE, N. C. -- The Philadelphia 76ers welcomed Tyrese Maxey back to the lineup on Saturday as they took on the Charlotte Hornets to begin their 3-game road trip.

It was a hugely important matchup when considering how tight the standings are and how important the tiebreakers can be. The Sixers used a big fourth quarter to rally from 15 points down and beat the Hornets 118-114 . Philadelphia is now two games up on the Hornets in the standings and own the tiebreaker.

It was a huge game from that perspective. The atmosphere inside of Spectrum Center was loud and rowdy. It was one of the better atmospheres that arena has seen in quite some time and the Sixers noticed.

Especially, Maxey who made big plays when it mattered most as he scored 26 points with eight assists and seven rebounds. "Most definitely, most definitely," Maxey said of the importance of this one. "I mean, we got a veteran leadership as far as, like, Kyle (Lowry) and Process (Joel Embiid), and PG (Paul George).
