Bucknor has been a big league umpire since 1996, and on Saturday, he did not do the Red Sox any favors in their 6-5 loss. Bucknor had eight calls challenged by players with the new ABS system. Only three of those challenges came from the Red Sox.
Carlos Narváez challenged a call in the second inning and Roman Anthony challenged two calls in the third inning. Narváez's call was upheld and Anthony's second call was upheld. The Red Sox were out of challenges at that point, but the Reds made sure to keep challenging bad calls.
The Reds challenged five calls, and all five were overturned. Bucknor had a total of six calls overturned, and fans were critical of him online. CB Bucknor rung up Eugenio Suarez twice and was wrong on back-to-back pitches.
