While his heroics cemented the win, Luke Osborn and Gavin Morrissey's timely goals in the third frame enabled Wisconsin to overcome the No. 1-seeded Spartans, which entered the contest fresh off a 2-1 win over UConn. Wisconsin, meanwhile, won its first NCAA Tournament game in 16 years on Thursday with a 5-1 win over Dartmouth.

Despite its recent Big Ten Tournament loss to Ohio State, Wisconsin’s title hopes are as alive as ever. The win marks Wisconsin's first national semifinals appearance since 2010. UW will now face the winner of North Dakota-Quinnipiac in the semifinals on April 9 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
