Tomahawks defeat Mountain Kings
HOOKSETT, N. H. – Three goals scored in each of the first and second periods helped the Johnstown Tomahawks defeat the New Hampshire Mountain Kings 7-4 Friday night in a crucial North American Hockey League East Division game.
Johnstown improved to 24-23-9 with 57 points and two points behind idle sixth-place Danbury with three games to go for the final playoff berth. Danbury has two contests remaining. Domeniks Domokejevs and Sean Leetch each scored two goals for the Tomahawks.
Emerson Marshall, Nick Metelkin and Jack Sullivan each dished out two assists. Leetch scored on the power play 6:08 into the game with assists going to Marshall and Sullivan. Jack Genovese pushed the lead to 2-0 with helpers from Conor Griffin and Domokejevs.
New Hampshire (22-26-8) received a goal each from Mikhail Cherepanov and Aidan Petroff to knot the game at 2-all. Leetch scored on the power play with three seconds left in the first period for a 3-2 lead. Sullivan and Marshall each supplied an assist.
In the second, Domokejevs buried two straight markers. Metelkin assisted on the first one, and Genovese and Metelkin helped on the second one. Evan Kensey increased the lead to 6-2 with an assist going to Alex Gomes.
