Washington softball earns 19th straight win with combined no-hitter
Thanks to a combined no-hitter, the Washington Huskies are now riding a 19-game winning streak after a 10-0 victory at Iowa on Saturday.
The Washington Huskies ' 19th consecutive victory came in style against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday afternoon with a combined no-hitter in a 10-0 win in six innings. Sophia Ramuno, who earned the win to improve to 8-2 on the season, went the majority of the way. She allowed just a pair of walks with 6 strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings before she was removed by coach Heather Tarr in the middle of the final at-bat of the game for Rylee Rehbein, who needed just three pitches to record the final out of the game, as catcher Jadyn Glab cut down a would-be base stealer on a wild pitch.
At the plate, the Huskies continued to roll after coming into the game with the third-most runs scored in the Big Ten (261). The usual suspects led the way at the dish, with Alexis DeBoer at the forefront as Washington put together 11 hits. The Preseason Second Team All-American reached base all four times, going 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, a double, a run batted in, and a run scored.
