Brewers place Andrew Vaughn on IL, call up top catcher prospect Jeferson Quero

Quero was one of MLB's top overall prospects before shoulder and hamstring injuries stalled his development.

The Milwaukee Brewers are calling up top catcher prospect Jeferson Quero to fill in for Andrew Vaughn, who is going on the injured list with a fractured hamate bone in his left hand. The team officially announced the move before Saturday’s matchup with the Chicago White Sox. Vaughn injured his hand in the Brewers’ season opener on Thursday and is the second Brewers everyday player to go on the IL early in the season.

Jackson Chourio, who fractured his hand during the spring, is expected to miss two to four weeks . Vaughn will likely be sidelined for four to six weeks, MLB. com’s Adam McCalvy reports .
