The demolition of Borough Park is set to start in May [Google] "Over those, you know, nearly 90 years, there's been highs and lows and disappointments and heartbreaks and glory," Durham said. "This is for the future of the club and the future of the town and the generations to come.
"They've seen Borough Park probably at its worst the last few years, but [the new stadium] is something to look forward to for the next 50, 60, 70 years. " 'One last time' The new stadium is due to be ready by August 2026 and will house offices, dressing rooms, function rooms, catering facilities and bars, as well as a new stand. It will also be home to the Workington Town rugby teams, currently based at the Fibrus Stadium across the road.
Durham said he has already received a lot of interest from former players for the big send off, which will include a half-time pitch parade. "We thought it appropriate to get as many of the older players as possible and present them to the crowd and let them, if they're able to, do a lap of honour of the pitch because they're the reason that we go, the players," Durham said. "We'll have a light lunch and for once we'll let them have a pint before the game and then we'll all converge on Borough Park for one last time.
