American tennis legend Andre Agassi shared in a recent viral interview how he ultimately figured out how to attack Boris Becker’s dominant serve. Agassi explained that he was desperate to find a solution. After going 0-3 in the 1988 and 1989 seasons against Becker, he had no feel or insight into Becker’s serving tendencies.

If it stuck out to the side, Becker was planning a serve out wide. It became such a telling signal for Agassi that he resisted the urge to use it all the time in matches and only acted on it in key points. He did not want Becker to believe he was reading his serve 100% of the time and subsequently change this tic.
