‘It’s unlikely’ – Sean Dyche dismisses rumours of taking over at Tottenham Hotspur Sean Dyche has quashed rumours linking him with the Tottenham Hotspur managerial role. With the Lilywhites languishing in 17th place and without a league win since the turn of the year, they are reportedly on the verge of sacking interim manager Igor Tudor , who only replaced Thomas Frank in February. Dyche has been linked with the Spurs job and was recently spotted in a North London pub.

However, speaking on talkSPORT , the former Everton boss clarified that the sighting was simply a social outing, not a clandestine meeting with the Tottenham board. “Honestly, I was in a pub just up the way, near my place I’ve got down there,” Dyche said. “And this guy goes, ‘Oh, you’re meant to be in talks with Spurs.

’ “And I said, ‘Well, I’m sat next to you having a pint of Guinness – it’s unlikely. ’ “Unless you work for Spurs, and they’re at The Seven Stars Pub having a pint of Guinness, it’s highly unlikely. ” The case for a Dyche appointment is compelling.

Under interim boss Tudor, Tottenham have taken just one point from a possible fifteen. Dyche’s reputation as a relegation ‘firefighter’ makes him an obvious candidate for a seven-game survival mission. However, reports suggest the Spurs hierarchy are eyeing Roberto De Zerbi or Mauricio Pochettino for the summer, and would only be willing to offer Dyche a short-term contract.
