Former Colts' QB gets start in UFL season opener

Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Jason Bean got the start on the Louisville Kings' season opener against the Birmingham Stallions. Bean was one of two quarterbacks selected by the Louisville Kings in the UFL draft earlier this year. The other was Chandler Rogers.

This is the Kings' inaugural season in the UFL. The Kings would lose to the Stallions 15-13. Bean was 14-of-27 passing for 226 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

He also rushed for 27 yards. Jason Bean spent time with the Indianapolis Colts Bean, who played his college football at North Texas and Kansas, went undrafted in 2024 and signed with the  Colts  as an undrafted rookie. After going through training camp and the preseason with the Colts, he was signed to the team's practice squad in 2024 following roster cutdowns.

On the Colts' roster at that time, Bean was listed as a quarterback and a wide receiver -- although he spent his time at the quarterback position in practice and played at that spot during preseason games. In 2025, Bean again went through offseason programs, training camp, and the preseason with the Colts. He was released during roster cutdowns in late August but was not signed to the practice squad at that time.
