Wake Forest coach Steve Forbes defended former UNC coach Hubert Davis after an anonymous ACC coach made a 'weak' remark.

Wake Forest head coach Steve Forbes strongly defended former North Carolina coach Hubert Davis after an anonymous ACC coach took a shot at Davis following his firing. According to college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, an anonymous ACC coach said of Davis in a statement Goodman posted on X : "I had really hoped he was the coach forever. No one in the ACC was scared of him.

I'm worried that they hire someone really good now because if you get a big-time guy at UNC, they could be right there with Duke again. " Forbes pushed back when he appeared on the radio show Westwood One Sports Night, calling the anonymous remark “weak,” especially with Davis having been fired just a day earlier. “Yeah, I—I think with Hubert, I—I just really like him, you know, and I—somebody tweeted something yesterday that was completely unprofessional about him and the league, and actually I sent it to the league office because I was just—just disgusted.

I just—I happened to see it, and I just thought it was weak. I mean, if you're going to say that, put your—put your name on it. That's weak.

Um, because he don't deserve that, right? Not that anybody does, but he don't. ” “If you’re going to say that, put your name on it.
