Browns NFL Draft: Daniel Jeremiah denies claims about QB1 battle
While other talking heads are saying that NFL Draft QB and Browns target Ty Simpson is just as good as Mendoza, one analyst puts his foot down
ESPN football analyst Dan Orlovsky has been burning the boats when he describes Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, a Cleveland Browns target in the 2026 NFL Draft. He stepped a little too far on Tuesday this week when he was on the Pat McAfee Show and challenged Pat and the Boys to prove why Fernando Mendoza was better than Ty Simpson when he asked "what games" when asking about which games Mendoza was better. Well, the games that he was better in were against the best defense in the country, Ohio State, Simpson's Crimson Tide, the Oregon Ducks, and then in the National Championship against the Miami Hurricanes.
Mendoza's approach and release are definitely different and more robotic than Simpson's natural release, but that's about the only thing that's different. On Thursday, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah went on the You Better You Bet podcast and put water all over that flame. When asked if he had talked to anyone who had Simpson over Mendoza, he said : "You can talk to different people, but I have not talked to anyone who has that.
That's not saying that he's saying anything untrue, he is just talking to different people. " "You can talk to different people, but I haven't talked to anyone that has that. " NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah ( @MoveTheSticks ) chimes in on @danorlovsky7 's comments that he and teams he has spoken to have Ty Simpson ranked over Fernando Mendoza.
