Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon has signed a one-year deal with the Washington Commanders.

As 2026 free agency begins to wind down, one former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback has found a new home in the NFC East. According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, ex-Steelers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon has signed a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders following his visit with the team. The #Commanders are signing veteran CB Ahkello Witherspoon following his visit to the team today, sources say.

com/7axtyQSREj — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 26, 2026 Witherspoon, who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the 66th overall pick in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, played out his four-year rookie contract in the Bay Area before joining the Seattle Seahawks in March 2021. Witherspoon was traded in September to the Steelers in exchange for a 2023 fifth-round pick. He recorded four interceptions, 11 passes defended, and 35 combined tackles in 13 games for Pittsburgh from 2021 to 2022.
