While the Rockies are one of the worst teams in the league, the Marlins winning 2-1 is still a good way to begin the season. Sandy Alcantara looked good, Javier Sanoja had three hits, and Pete Fairbanks got a save in his Marlins debut. All things considered, it was a good 2026 season debut for Miami.
But things might be getting a bit more exciting already. According to Kevin Barral of Fish on First , the Marlins are reportedly calling up top infield prospect Deyvison De Los Santos just one game into the regular season. This is a very interesting move if it does come to fruition, as the Marlins would be calling up a top prospect who's just 22 years old for his debut in the Majors one game into the season. De Los Santos played one game in Triple-A this season, and he had a 1. 850 OPS thanks to going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBIs, two runs scored, one walk, and no strikeouts.
