Tom Izzo comments on retirement speculation after Sweet Sixteen loss
Tom Izzo commented on speculation about his retirement following MSU's Sweet Sixteen loss to UConn
It feels like people have been talking about Tom Izzo's potential retirement for over 10 years now. Every time it gets brought up, the long-time Michigan State basketball head coach shuts those conversations down, but it seems like every year, they come back. On Friday night, after a painful Sweet Sixteen loss to the UConn Huskies, Izzo was, once again, asked about his retirement plans.
Once again, he shut that conversation down. “I’m feeling good. We’ll talk about retirement—why?
What the hell am I going to do? The minute I don’t feel good, the minute I don’t feel like I’m giving my AD, president, or school every ounce of energy I have every day… you won’t have to worry about it. I don’t steal money.
I won’t steal anybody’s time. But it’s sure as hell not going to be now. I’ve got some things to accomplish.
