5-point favorites over the No. 6-seed Tennessee Volunteers in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament, according to FanDuel . Tennessee’s highly-rated defense was great in a 76-62 upset win over the No.
2-seed Iowa State Cyclones on Friday, and a 43-22 advantage in the rebounding battle was a huge factor as well. The Volunteers have one of the SEC’s top defenses (second in SEC with 94. 7 points allowed per 100 possessions), which will be tasked with trying to slow down Michigan’s offense.
Despite an underwhelming regular season and entering the last two games as an underdog, Tennessee found a way to reach the Elite Eight for a third straight year. The Volunteers will pose a serious threat to the Wolverines on both ends of the floor, as Rick Barnes’ team leads the country in offensive rebounding and are among the nation’s best at limiting three-pointers. Michigan might be the favorite, but the Volunteers certainly can’t be overlooked at this point, boasting a 25-11 record behind All-SEC guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie and forward Nate Ament.
